CANCELED - Interleaving-Mapping: A Novel Data Layout in SPRAM
DescriptionModern Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) platform keep following the linear data mapping method. While this method allows efficient row access to row-major 2D matrices, it introduces complexity to perform efficient column access. In this article, we propose a novel data layout method, Interleaving-Mapping. This method preform efficient row and column access simultaneously by changing the layout of the data in ScratchPad memory. The results show that IM-SRAM can provide 1.4x speedup on average with only 1.73% exrtra area overhead.
