Fair Will Go On: A Collaboration-Aware Fairness Scheme for NVMe SSD in Cloud Storage System
DescriptionFairness is a critical design consideration for a shared SSD and has drawn great interest recently. Although many fair schemes are proposed on SSD's different modules, such as cache and transaction scheduling unit (TSU), they fail to provide fairness when cache performance is poor or do not exploit the differences in flash features across requests. This paper proposes CoFS, a novel coordinated SSD cache and TSU learning-based fair scheme to achieve fairness considering cache and bandwidth resources which are significant for fairness control. Experimental results show that CoFS achieves encouraging fairness and performance improvement of the latest cloud storage workloads.
