Demands for Open-Source Hardware Trojan Detection Tools: An RL Approach
DescriptionIntegrated Circuit production has become increasingly multi-vendor to lower costs and expedite time-to-market. Accordingly, the design flow has become vulnerable to Hardware Trojan (HT) insertion. While there are numerous HT detection tools and approaches, only one recent study is publicly available online. Thus, security researchers must spend significant time, energy, and budget rebuilding existing toolsets to test their ideas. This paper is a step towards publicly releasing HT detection tools to help new researchers in this field. Our open-source reinforcement learning HT detection tool features a tunable reward function enabling researchers to explore new HT detection approaches with minimal effort.
