Partition Based Differential Testing for Finding Embedded Code Generation Bugs in Simulink
DescriptionSimulink Coder is important for generating embedded code from Simulink models. However, bugs in Simulink Coder may inject unexpected behaviors to target applications that use the generated code. To this end, we propose MOPART, a model partition based differential testing method for Simulink Coder testing. MOPART uses multiple-way network partitioning to generate diverse bug-triggering Simulink models that can output equivalent embedded code. MOPART then analyzes the outputs of these Simulink models with differential testing to find Simulink Coder bugs. Experiments show that MOPART is effective in finding Simulink Coder bugs, which finds 8 confirmed bugs in only two weeks.
