An Ultra High-Throughput and Energy-Efficient TRNG Exploiting Four FPGA-Compatible Ring Oscillators and One Multiphase Sampler
DescriptionIn this paper, we design a novel true random number generator with ultra high-throughput and energy-efficiency for FPGA. Only four ring oscillators constructed using eight look-up tables are sampled with one multiphase sampler to fully exploit the randomness of the entropy source, which provides high throughput while consuming very low area and power. An end-to-end implementation and testing framework is tailored for easy deployment and portability on Xilinx 7 serials FPGA. The proposed architecture passes the NIST SP 800-22 and 800-90B tests without post-processing and outperforms the state-of-the-arts in terms of robustness, resource overhead, and energy consumption.
