Mixed-cell-height Placement with Minimum-Implant-Area and Drain-to-Drain Abutment Constraints
DescriptionWe present an algorithm to address the mixed-cell-height placement problem with minimum-implant-area(MIA) and drain-to-drain abutment(DDA) constraints. We first align the cells to rows by conjugate gradient method and then reorder them as preprocess. A two-step clustering method is proposed to solve intra-row MIA violations, after which we address the inter-row MIA violations by using a queue-based method. Finally, we present a satisfiability-based approach after multi-region partitioning to solve DDA violations without introducing MIA violations. Our algorithm can resolve all MIA and almost all DDA violations with 13% smaller displacement, 4% smaller HPWL, and 25% less runtime compared with state-of-art work.
