ProHash: A Promotion-based Hashing Index Scheme for NVM-based Systems
DescriptionFor efficiently indexing data, hashing index schemes have been widely adopted by non-volatile memory (NVM) based systems. However, hashing index schemes suffer considerable overheads when the hash table becomes full. The hash table needs to be resized to accept more incoming data, followed by excessive read and write operations. Thus, many hashing index schemes for NVM-based systems were proposed to reduce such overhead. However, existing designs still suffer from enormous resizing overheads. To tackle this issue, we propose a promotion-based hashing index scheme called ProHash, which is a resizing-friendly design. We conducted experiments based on a well-known NVM emulator, Quartz.
